The Kahuna hashers play the game of hashing like this:

At 6:45 on Monday nites, a runner (Called the hare) will set out from the designated starting location, with a bag of flour. The hare uses the flour to mark a trail that the runners(hounds) will try to follow. The hounds will leave in pursuit of the hare at 7:00pm. The trail that the hare sets will involve various terrain, deceptive paths which are designed to slow fast runners and allow the slower runners and walkers to catch up to the speedy ones. A good trail is fun and challenging for both the fast runners and the slower walkers and runners.

Somewhere along the trail the hare will setup a beverage check, with some beer, water and non-alcholic drinks. The pack will catch the faster hounds at the beverage break and the whole pack will leave together in pursuit of flour.

The hare uses a variety of marks to set the trail. The Kahuna hash uses these markings:

ON Trail- A dot of flour about 5 inches

ON Arrow - A flour arrow. This is true trail.

Beverage Near- Refreshment break coming

Beverage Check - Refreshment break mark (option)

Check - The trail changes direction, marks resume nearby about 100 yards or more (360 degrees all round)

False trail - Go back to last check and look for trail

ON-IN - You're done the trail ends
